A fractal is a mathematical image that looks nifty. Specifically, the following desktop images represent the Julia set and the Mandelbrot set. The dimensions are 2560 x 1024 (1280 x 1024 x 2), but they also look nice on dual widescreens (1280 x 800 x 2).

Discover multiple desktops! Download Virtual Desktop Manager for Win XP. After installation, right click on your taskbar, highlight Toolbars to expand the submenu, and click Desktop Manager.

Windows Tip
Are you tired of wallpaper images cluttering My Pictures? Instead save them to "%WINDIR%\Web\Wallpaper". Right click on the desktop and click Properties. In WinXP, click on the Desktop tab. Tada! Now the wallpaper is an option in the list box.

These wallpapers are 2048 x 768 pixels. If your desktop is a different size, resize the images with Paint.NET or Irfanview. If your computer switches the left and right sides, use the reversed version.

Windows Tip
To display wallpaper across two monitors, right click on the desktop and click Properties. Click on the Desktop tab, and set Position to "Tile."
